hema staff spent an informative and sociable day at this year's company outing.
At the beginning of July this year's company outing of hema electronic took place. The trip led to Lorch, where the staff visited the Benedictine monastery, which is situated quietly above the town. After a champagne reception a guided tour through the monastery complex was on the program. During this tour, the staff learned a lot about the Staufers and the life of the monks. The monastery church contains the tomb of several Staufer monks, including the tomb of the only German queen Irene of Byzantium.
In the chapter house the history of the Staufers can be seen as a round painting by Hans Kloss. It tells the rise and fall of the German and European dynasty of the Staufer dynasty in the years 1102 to 1268. The completion in 2002 was after four and a half years of work. With a length of 30 metres and a height of 4.5 metres, it is the largest painting on canvas in southwest Germany. All in all, the round painting is very detailed: about 1500 people, 400 animals and 120 city views can be seen on it.
At the end, everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet in the refectory, where the evening came to a cosy close. Before the journey home, the hema staff could take a short walk through the beautifully laid out monastery garden.
